UmattR TV Season 2025 Episode 1
UmattR TV Team 2025 Episode 1:
UmattR is a program developed through the San Juan Safe Communities initiative to promote positive role models among high school seniors in San Juan County. The program encourages young people to make healthy decisions, stay drug-free, and serve as leaders within their communities. Participants are chosen for their dedication to living alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free lives while excelling in diverse fields such as sports, arts, and academics. These teens visit schools to share their personal stories, inspiring younger students to make positive life choices and avoid harmful behaviors.
In addition to school visits, UmattR teens participate in producing UmattR TV and U-pod, the UmattR podcast. These series spotlight their activities and contributions to the community. Each episode typically includes interviews with local leaders, profiles of positive teen role models, and discussions on critical social issues. The program fosters leadership and community involvement among its participants, who also receive scholarships for their commitment to promoting the program’s values throughout the school year.
The 2024-2025 academic year kicks off with an episode of UmattR TV featuring team members Brig Keiser, Annie Yost, and Nathan Hakes, hosted by Makenna Stark. Each team member shares a bit about themselves and recounts a personal story of overcoming a difficult challenge in life—real stories that can offer valuable life lessons to our youth.
